Why do I need to tune my piano every year?
Piano tuning is piano maintenance! Pianos are living, breathing things that are affected by temperature and humidity changes. When a piano hasn’t been tuned in a few years, the tension of the strings gradually decreases, which can often lead to the development of structural issues. It is also important for the pitch to be correct in order to train the ear of the player.
What if my piano is outside of central Ohio?
While we primarily service pianos in Columbus and Central Ohio, we are happy to discuss servicing pianos outside of that area. Additional fees may apply.
Why are the keys on my piano sticking?
Sticky keys can be the result of various causes. It is typically due to excess friction in the key itself, in the moving parts of the action, and in some cases, the presence of a foreign object wedged inside. We can ease friction, replace broken or worn parts, and get your piano’s action feeling the way it was intended.
My piano has a broken string. How do I fix this?
Broken strings are a fact of life! The metal wire is under tremendous tension and can weaken over the years. We carry the necessary wire gauges to replace broken or missing treble strings, though bass strings will need to be measured and ordered from a manufacturer. Brand new strings will take time to stretch and settle into tension. If a string break is outside of the “speaking length” (the portion of the string that vibrates after being struck by the hammer), we can splice new wire onto the break point and preserve the original string.
I need to move my piano. Who should I contact?
It may be tempting to enlist the help of friends and family members to load a piano into your pickup truck or moving van. However, it is recommended that your piano be moved safely by professionals. Some general moving companies will transport pianos along with your home furnishings, but specialized piano movers will ensure that your piano will be handled with care.

How soon should I have my piano tuned once it’s been moved?
You just moved your piano to its new home and you’re excited to have it tuned. We understand, we want you to have your piano sounding its best! The new room, stage, or classroom can have differences in temperature and humidity, and a piano will need to acclimate to its new environment for 2-3 weeks before tuning.
